ANDY BAGLEY has had an unhealthy obsession
with sound synthesis since an early age. What started as
a childhood fascination with the Dr Who theme track and
"Popcorn" developed into a full scale mania
into his adult years. This has manifested itself in a
frightening arsenal of electronic equipment. Foolhardy
adventurers have capitalised on the talents of a
man who wrote the music for former industrial Bris-band, PURE BUNK,
for post-production work and remixes for numerous
national and international artists.
Andy’s
knowledge in sound production and synthesis is legendary
in electronic music making circles, with his
extraordinary talent called into play along the entire
spectrum of performers; from remixing a number of local
bands and artists such as Squelch and Dogmachine,
to remix work and performance production work for
international superstars
Savage Garden. In his various guises, including
Pure Bunk and Hammerhead, Andy is alone at the forefront
of Australian industrial, leftfield and dark electronica.
He will be performing his latest solo works for “NUMAN
SS1”,as well as some interesting Numan cover versions
for the first event in the SILHOUETTE SERIES for 2006.

Taiyo is ROBERT LENNOX. With a lengthy career in
the local Brisbane music scene spanning some 15 years,
Rob has produced live and recorded music in several
genres. Starting with techno- grunge in the early
nineties and moving into trip hop, trance, drum'n'bass
and jungle over the millennium, Rob's latest independent
release "Down To Earth" strips it back to
beats, rhymes and samples in a unique local style.
These tracks are performed to inspire and give something
unique back to the local beats community. The rhymes
contain references to the past and music history and
lessons from previous experiences and influences. They
also point to the present Bris-Vegas as an ever-changing
creative environment and the problems faced by
contemporary urban artists.
Rob's recent performances as a DJ and MC include Spin N
Jam in West End, Burnett River Festival near Bundaberg,
Where- music- meets at QUT Creative Industries Precinct,
the Samedi Lodge at the Orient Hotel and at selected
venues in Cairns. He has also hosted a weekly four-hour
program on 4-ZZZ FM.

THE ISLE is the creative platform for Anna Petrou and Dennis Remmer,
who also founded and direct the Trans:Com record label.
The Isle's live appearance at the Silhouette series is
their first since the late-90's, with the pair
having focussed on label operations and other creations
in that time. The Isle formed in 1994 and debuted on the
Evidence compilation released that year, with a highly
original
dark-wave piece called 'Politically Incorrect' which was
subsequently remixed by Morgan Geist (of Metro Area fame)
for the Cyberia CD. The Isle's rare but popular live
appearances included the debut event for the Brisbane-
arm of the Australian Clan Analogue collective,
and later in conjunction with Ostia, Blood Party, Sphere
and
Tycho Brahe, culminating in an appearance at the
'Permanent' Joy Division tribute event.
Prior to The Isle, Dennis was one
half of the House Guests project which had been recording and
experimenting since the late 80's with analogue synthesizers, samplers
and early drum machines. Anna - a classically trained violinist - has also
recorded and performed with one of Brisbane's premier industrial acts;
Dogmachine.
With key influences including New Order, Durutti Column, Cocteau Twins, GusGus,
Single Gun Theory, Orbital, Cabaret Voltaire, Warp and Factory Records; The
Isle's Silhouette performance promises to deliver a diverse
combination of new electro, synthpop, darker leftfield productions, and maybe
even a cover version!

SIMON ROOTS was born in Britain, and emigrated to
Australia at an early age. Working initially in
illustration and cartooning he then made the move to
fine arts. Completing a Diploma of Visual Arts
(Painting) in 2003, he is currently pursuing a Bachelor
of Fine Arts at the Queensland College of Art.
His interest lies primarily in painting, printmaking and
assemblage. He won a Scholarship Grant in 2004 and
studied for the Fall (Autumn) Semester in Philadelphia,
USA, at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
A regular exhibitor he was selected for the 2003 and
2005 Churchie Emerging Art Exhibition. His work is
represented in a number of private collections. A keen
collaborator he has curated a number of exhibitions and
assisted with the Visual Arts section of the Wataboshi
Festival.
Simon's interest is in the influence of mass media and
its affects on human behaviour. His painting is a way to
reinterpret a world filled with the instant visual
imagery of photography, popular media and the internet.
It's an island for the considered contemplation of
ideas, the slow absorption of layers of meaning, as
contrasted with the instant fix and didactic nature of
mass media.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
"What makes people tick? Contemporary society is
full of contradiction and mystery, and can invoke the
most fascinating human behaviour. What are the
motivations and obsessions that drive us all? As an
artist, I’m interested in the themes that help us
construct our version of reality and how easily those
ideas can be subverted or misunderstood."
RECENT
EXHIBITIONS:
- 2005 Fine

- 2005 Courier Mail Art Show
