About the
"SILHOUETTE
SERIES"
Silhouette... influential
music in profile... TRANS:COM's main aim behind the
development of the SILHOUETTE SERIES is to give support to Brisbane’s independent electronic music makers. With Trans:Com as curator, the series
provides an organised supportive framework for new and emerging electronic music performers, offering more ways
for them to present and communicate with their live audience. As a
quarterly event (March, May, July, & September), we can provide a
consistent program whilst also tapping into an established network of supportive industry players
in the areas of sound production
(TONE PACER, a production & recording facility), music
distribution/delivery/promotion (TRANS:COM),
media (MAP MAGAZINE, TIME
OFF & PULSERADIO.NET) and venue
(BRISBANE POWERHOUSE).
Through the Silhouette Series, TRANS:COM will also be experimenting with
various technologies as part of its new focus on purely digital
distribution. The Series is also an avenue for
us to show our respect to some of our most influential
electronic-influenced songwriters. For 2006, Trans:Com will be
acknowledging the efforts of Gary Numan, Bernard Sumner, Martin Gore,
and Bjork, and we hope to continue the program into 2007 with other key
influences. Each event
will incorporate an audiovisual montage produced by an emerging local
multimedia artist, interspersed with live
performances from some of Brisbane's finest electronica bands and
artists (many of which will no doubt include a tribute version or
two). If you would like to be kept
up-to-date about the series and receive our FREE quarterly e-news
updates about events like the Silhouette series (the artists, our label,
and other interesting related news) just email anna@trans.com.au
and request to become a Trans:Com subscriber.
